The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has identified 3,000 fake graduates across Nigeria.

JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, announced this during a meeting with the Committee of Pro Chancellors of State Universities in Nigeria (COPSUN) in Abuja.

“Some ‘graduates’ had never entered the four walls of a university owing to the endemic corruption in the system but the board had documented over 3,000 of such cases,” Prof. Oloyede revealed. He condemned the illegal admissions practices prevalent in some universities, calling them “an embarrassment and a disservice to the nation.”

The board emphasized that students should avoid accepting admissions without full academic participation, reflecting concerns raised by the House of Representatives Committee on Basic Education in December 2023 about irregular admissions.
