Embattled American rapper and music executive Sean Combs, also known as Diddy, has issued a public apology following the release of video footage showing him assaulting his former signee and estranged girlfriend, Cassie, in 2016.

The footage, obtained by CNN, captures Diddy repeatedly kicking and throwing objects at Cassie in a hallway of a Los Angeles hotel.

In a video message shared on his social media on Sunday, Diddy expressed regret and took full responsibility for his actions, describing his behavior as “inexcusable.” He stated, “My behaviour on that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I’m so sorry.”

Despite public outrage over the video, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has announced that it will not prosecute Diddy for the assault. The office cited that the incident falls outside the statute of limitations for prosecuting such a crime.
