
Police in Edo State, Nigeria have arrested a suspect in connection with the murder of Glory Adekolure, a graduate of the University of Benin (UNIBEN).
Adekolure was last seen on June 13, 2024, when she went to campus to submit her project. Her body was discovered under a tree in Iyowa Community, Benin City.
The arrest was made in Asaba, Delta State, 15 days after the discovery of Adekolure’s remains. “We have apprehended the suspect linked to the murder of Miss Adekolure,” confirmed Edo State Commissioner of Police, Funsho Adegboye, in a conversation with Channels Television on Friday.
The suspect reportedly confessed to the killing of Adekolure and at least seven other young women, revealing a potential pattern of serial killings. “The suspect is cooperating with our ongoing investigation,” Commissioner Adegboye added, noting that further details would be disclosed as the investigation progresses.
