The All Progressives Congress has concluded its zonal congresses across the six geopolitical zones, paving the way for its national convention scheduled to hold in Abuja.
The exercise saw the emergence of new and returning zonal executives, many of whom pledged to mobilise support ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Party leaders described the successful conduct of the congresses as a demonstration of unity and readiness for the upcoming convention, with consensus and voice voting widely adopted as the method for selecting executives.
Top party figures, including governors, lawmakers and stakeholders, participated in the process across different zones, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening party structures and cohesion.
In the South-West, key officials were re-elected or newly appointed, while similar exercises in the South-South, South-East, North-West, North-East and North-Central zones produced their respective leadership teams.
Leaders across the zones emphasised the importance of unity, grassroots mobilisation and strategic alignment as the party prepares for future elections.
The zonal congresses are seen as a precursor to the national convention, where broader decisions on party leadership and direction are expected to be made.
