
The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has ordered the arrest of two Commission officers accused of assaulting a female employee at Regional Hotel in Ojo, Lagos.
A viral video captured EFCC operatives, dressed in plain clothes, forcefully entering a hotel room during an early morning sting operation. The footage showed the officers involved in an altercation with a hotel staff member, prompting immediate action from EFCC leadership.
“The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has ordered the arrest of two officers of the Commission allegedly involved in the manhandling of a female staff of Regional Hotel, Ojo, Lagos,” stated EFCC spokesman Dayo Oyewale in a statement released on Thursday.
The incident occurred amid a larger operation that resulted in the apprehension of numerous suspects, who are currently being profiled by the agency.
“The EFCC’s boss has also ordered detailed investigations of the operation carried out at the hotel and assured that appropriate disciplinary measures would be taken against any of the officers found to be culpable,” Oyewale added.
Olukoyede emphasized the Commission’s commitment to professional conduct and adherence to the rule of law. “The EFCC would continue to ply its job professionally and with profound respect for the rule of law,” the statement assured.
