British-Nigerian boxer Anthony Joshua has decided to leave the United Kingdom and relocate to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. The 36-year-old former heavyweight world champion confirmed he will become a resident of the city after filing official paperwork for his business interests declaring his new country of residence.

Joshua, who was born in Watford to Nigerian parents and won a gold medal representing Great Britain at the 2012 London Olympics, reportedly made the decision as part of changes to his business and personal affairs.

Documents connected to his companies, including Sparta Promotions and 258 Investments, required him to state where he officially resides, revealing the move to Dubai.

The boxer’s business empire is estimated to be worth about £150 million. Analysts say relocating to Dubai could significantly reduce his tax obligations because the United Arab Emirates does not impose personal income tax, making it a popular destination for wealthy individuals and athletes.

Joshua’s decision comes despite tensions in the Middle East linked to the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran, which has seen missile and drone attacks reported in parts of the region. Even with the security concerns, the heavyweight star has proceeded with plans to switch his residential status.

The boxing star has maintained strong ties with Dubai for years, regularly using the city’s training facilities and visiting for business and promotional activities. His relocation places him among several wealthy British figures who have recently moved abroad as part of financial or lifestyle decisions.
