Senator Ishaku Abbo has been cleared of rape allegations brought against him by a 16-year-old girl. The Adamawa State High Court ruled that the prosecution failed to prove the charges beyond a reasonable doubt, leading to the senator’s acquittal and discharge.

The case centered on an incident alleged to have occurred in 2021. The court found the evidence presented by the prosecution to be insufficient and contradictory.

Justice Justice Mohammed Danladi highlighted that there were significant inconsistencies in the testimony of the complainant, noting that her own evidence did not support the criminal allegations she made.

Senator Abbo, who maintained his innocence from the beginning, expressed relief and gratitude for the verdict. The ruling brings a legal conclusion to a high-profile case that has attracted significant public attention.
