The Confederation of African Football has officially opened an investigation into the “unacceptable behaviour” of players and officials during the quarter-final matches of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The continental football governing body has condemned the actions and is reviewing incidents from the matches between Cameroon and Morocco, as well as Algeria and Nigeria.
Specific incidents from these high-stakes matches have been referred to the CAF Disciplinary Board for a full review.
The board will examine collected match reports and video evidence to determine if any wrongdoing occurred. Its findings could lead to appropriate sanctions for any individuals found guilty of misconduct during the games.
In its statement, CAF also noted that it is reviewing a separate incident involving alleged misbehaviour by members of the media in a stadium area.
The organization stressed that it strongly condemns any unprofessional actions, particularly those targeting match officials or tournament organizers.
CAF has reiterated its commitment to maintaining professional standards at all its events. It warned that anyone whose behaviour fails to meet these standards will face appropriate consequences as part of the ongoing disciplinary process.
