Arsenal legend Thierry Henry is being honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2025 BBC Sports Personality of the Year ceremony. The 48-year-old former striker, widely regarded as one of the greatest Premier League players, will receive the award for his outstanding contributions to football.

Henry, who retired in 2014, had an illustrious career with Arsenal, scoring 228 goals in 377 appearances and winning two Premier League titles and three FA Cups. He was also part of France’s 1998 World Cup-winning squad and Euro 2000 champions.

The award recognizes Henry’s lasting impact on the sport, including his record-equalling four Premier League Golden Boots and six PFA Team of the Year appearances. He’s also known for his work as a pundit and coach, currently leading France’s U21 and Olympic teams.

“Football has given me everything and I gave it my all,” Henry said. “To be recognised as part of its history with this Lifetime Achievement award and to have made my mark for the fans and my team-mates is something I’ll never take for granted”.
