The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Kano Operations Office, has received 148 Nigerians evacuated from Sudan amid the ongoing conflict in the country.
The group landed at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport on Friday, September 19, 2025, aboard a chartered flight operated by Tarco Aviation.
The returnees included 25 adult men, 27 adult women, 39 boys, and 57 girls. Upon arrival, they were transported to the Chila Hotel for profiling and documentation by relevant stakeholders.
NEMA disclosed that the returnees were not enrolled in any reintegration program but were given transport fare along with ATM cards for withdrawals shortly after the completion of documentation and profiling.
The agency described the repatriation exercise as well-coordinated and successfully executed.
This evacuation comes as part of the Nigerian government’s ongoing efforts, supported by NEMA and international partners, to ensure the safe return of citizens affected by the war in Sudan.
The conflict, which began in April 2023 between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), has displaced millions and devastated the country’s infrastructure.
The Federal Government continues to monitor the situation closely and provide support to Nigerians impacted by the crisis.
