The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has granted former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, administrative bail after questioning him over alleged financial misconduct involving N189 billion.
Tambuwal, who also served as Speaker of the House of Representatives, was released after providing necessary information to investigators and meeting his bail conditions.
According to sources, Tambuwal’s passport has been withheld by the EFCC, indicating that the probe is ongoing.
EFCC spokesman Dele Oyewale confirmed Tambuwal’s release but declined further comment.
Former presidential candidate Peter Obi emphasized the need for sincerity and transparency in Nigeria’s anti-graft war, stating that applying anti-corruption laws equally to all individuals is crucial for success.
Tambuwal’s arrest and interrogation have sparked debate about the effectiveness of Nigeria’s anti-corruption efforts.
