The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has made a series of significant arrests in multiple states, including a 72-year-old grandmother, Mrs. Christy Ejaro, apprehended in Warri, Delta State, with several sachets of skunk cannabis packaged for retail sale.

On June 25, NDLEA operatives arrested Ejaro at the Niger CAT area of Warri, marking a notable seizure of illicit drugs involving an elderly suspect. In a separate operation at Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, officers intercepted Chibuzor Emmanuel, a 38-year-old bar attendant based in Maputo, Mozambique, carrying 17.5 kilograms of methamphetamine and 3.05 kilograms of cocaine concealed in bedsheets. Another passenger on the same flight, 54-year-old Azu Kpodar, was found with 1.25 kilograms of liquid cocaine disguised in a liquid soap container.

At the Seme border in Lagos, a 26-year-old Beninese national, Vode Jean-Luck, was caught attempting to smuggle 29.5 kilograms of skunk cannabis into Nigeria. Meanwhile, in Kwara State, notorious drug dealer Mary Bolanle Oladele, also known as “Iya Nafi,” was arrested during a raid in Omu-Aran, where various quantities of skunk, tramadol, and flunitrazepam were seized.

Additionally, NDLEA operatives arrested former Nigerian international footballer Segun George Hunkarin at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, in connection with cocaine trafficking. Hunkarin was apprehended alongside a businessman attempting to smuggle cocaine concealed in luggage.

NDLEA Chairman, Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd), commended the agency’s operatives across Delta, Kwara, Lagos, Enugu, and other commands for their relentless efforts in disrupting drug trafficking networks and maintaining a balance between supply reduction and public sensitization. The agency continues to intensify its War Against Drug Abuse campaign nationwide.
