Nigerian music superstar Davido has withdrawn from the highly anticipated 50 Cent Legacy Tour concert scheduled for July 3 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, where he was set to perform alongside R&B legend Mary J. Blige and rapper 50 Cent.
Davido made the announcement on June 14, 2025, via his Instagram Stories, clarifying that his decision was not related to poor ticket sales but was “a matter of principle and respect for my craft.” He cited “major misalignments regarding the event’s execution, particularly concerning key elements required to uphold the integrity and quality of my performance,” as the reason for his withdrawal. Despite efforts by his team to resolve these issues with the event promoters, The Neto Future Group and Iconic Presents, he said the problems remained unresolved.
“As a result, I regret to inform you that I will no longer be performing at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on July 3rd. Please note, the show still holds, but without Davido,” he stated. Davido emphasized that he and his team had worked tirelessly in preparation and expressed gratitude to the thousands of fans who had purchased tickets.
He reassured fans that the rest of his summer shows in Germany, Portugal, Belgium, Canada, and the US would proceed as scheduled. “This decision is not a reflection of turnout or support; it is a matter of principle and respect for my craft, my fans, and the culture I represent,” Davido explained. He concluded his message with a call for respect for African artistry: “Africa must be respected”.
Davido’s withdrawal has sparked discussions across social media, with many praising his stance on artistic integrity and cultural dignity. The concert will continue as planned, but without Davido on the lineup.
