In a daring operation, the Lagos State Marine Police, with the support of the Nigerian Navy, rescued the kidnapped Fouani brothers and two others on Monday night in the Orugbo Iddo area of Lagos.

According to Police Public Relations Officer Benjamin Hundeyin, the victims, including three Lebanese nationals, the boat captain, and his assistant, were rescued around 6 pm in Lagos.

The Fouani brothers, identified as Abbas Fouani, Youssef Fouani, and Amtal Fouani, are the Managing Directors of Fouani Nigeria Ltd, a prominent electronics company and sole distributor of LG, Hisense, and Maxi products in Nigeria.

The brothers were kidnapped on Friday while sailing from Apapa to Victoria Island, along with the boat captain and his assistant, and two other Lebanese nationals. The kidnappers demanded a ransom of $1.5 million, but it is unclear whether any ransom was paid before the hostages were freed.

The rescue operation was carried out by the Lagos State Marine Police, with the support of the Nigerian Navy. The victims were taken to shore and later reunited with their families on Banana Island.

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the rescue operation, but no further details have been provided on the kidnappers or any potential arrests. The incident highlights the ongoing issue of kidnapping in Lagos and the need for increased security measures to protect citizens.

The Fouani brothers’ rescue is a welcome relief for their family and the business community, and the police are being praised for their swift action in rescuing the victims. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of collaboration between security agencies in combating crime and ensuring public safety.
