A coalition of 196 professors from Southern Kaduna has publicly expressed strong support for President Bola Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, praising their administration’s developmental initiatives in the region. The announcement was made during a press briefing held in Kaduna on Sunday, May 11, by the Forum of Southern Kaduna Professors (FOSKAP), chaired by Professor John Laah.
Professor Laah highlighted the significant economic and political transformation underway in Southern Kaduna, attributing it to investments by both the federal and state governments over the past two years. Key projects cited include the establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia, the Federal Medical Centre in Kafanchan, the Military Command Centre in Samaru Kataf, the Command Secondary School in Zango Kataf, and the Vocational and Technology Skills Acquisition City in Samaru Kataf. Additional institutions such as the UBEC Junior Vocational Secondary School in Jagindi and the National Open University of Nigeria Study Centre in Mabuhu, Zonzon, were also acknowledged.
The professors praised President Tinubu for approving these critical institutions and commended his appointments of Bishop Mathew Kukah as Pro-Chancellor and Professor Barnabas William as Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Applied Sciences, as well as Dr. Haruna Abubakar Shehu as Chief Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre. Laah described these appointments as placing “square pegs in square holes,” enhancing the credibility and academic strength of the institutions.
Governor Uba Sani received commendation for his commitment to inclusive governance, with Laah noting his sincerity and efforts to ensure equitable distribution of democracy’s dividends across Kaduna State. The forum also recognized the contributions of Senator Sunday Katung, Representatives Dan Amos and Amos Magaji, and Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa for their roles in advancing Southern Kaduna’s development.
The forum pledged to actively support and contribute their expertise to the academic, clinical, and research activities of the new institutions, emphasizing their readiness to help management uphold ethical and fiduciary responsibilities.
This endorsement adds momentum to President Tinubu’s and Governor Sani’s re-election bids in 2027, reflecting growing regional support based on perceived progress and inclusive governance under their leadership.
