Human rights lawyer Dele Farotimi has reaffirmed his support for Peter Obi in the 2027 presidential election, citing Obi’s capacity and integrity as key reasons. During an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Farotimi stated that if elections were held today and Peter Obi ran, he would definitely vote for him, unless a more capable and credible candidate emerges.
Farotimi praised Obi’s leadership qualities, emphasizing that his only reservation would be if Obi chooses to associate with individuals he considers morally unacceptable. He also urged Obi to take a firmer stance on policy matters, but still views him as the most viable option.
The lawyer criticized the current focus on the 2027 elections, describing it as premature and unhelpful given Nigeria’s current challenges. “Talking about elections now does us no good. We’re not in the right condition to have that conversation,” he said.
Farotimi’s continued backing of Obi stems from his desire to see a better Nigeria, and he believes Obi’s presidency could bring about positive change. As a staunch supporter of Obi since the 2023 presidential election, Farotimi’s endorsement carries significant weight.
