Access Bank has responded to viral claims that a former employee secretly recorded female colleagues in private spaces at its contact center. The bank confirmed the matter is under investigation by authorities.
In a Monday statement, the financial institution addressed reports originally published by the Foundation for Investigative Journalism alleging ex-contact center agent Stephen Ejezie filmed over 400 unauthorized videos of coworkers changing clothes or using restrooms.
“The matter has been handed to appropriate authorities conducting investigations,” Access Bank stated. “We are fully cooperating while actively supporting affected employees.”
The bank emphasized its zero-tolerance stance on harassment and privacy violations, adding that employee safety and dignity remain top priorities. It urged the public to rely only on official communications for updates.
FIJ’s report claimed Ejezie planted hidden cameras in private areas and remains free despite evidence. Access Bank’s response comes amid growing scrutiny of workplace safety protocols in corporate Nigeria.
The lender recently received final approval for its takeover of Kenya’s National Bank. Its statement concluded by thanking stakeholders for their concern during the investigation process.
