The Imo State Police Command has arrested two female suspects, Joy Ugwu and Rosella Michael, allegedly involved in a child trafficking operation. The suspects attempted to sell a 4-year-old boy, Jaffa Umar, for ₦2.7 million. A third accomplice, believed to be a nurse, remains at large.

According to the police, the child was abducted in Abuja while hawking vegetables and transported to Owerri, Imo State. The suspects were intercepted by operatives of the Scorpion Unit on April 14, 2025.

The child has been safely reunited with his family through coordinated efforts between the Imo State Police Command and Zone 7 Police Headquarters in Abuja. The suspects have been transferred to the Zonal Criminal Investigation Department (ZCID) in Abuja for further investigation and prosecution.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, reassured the public of the Command’s commitment to safeguarding vulnerable persons and dismantling trafficking networks in the state.
