Kwara State Anglican Bishop Sunday Adewole acknowledged government efforts while highlighting persistent hunger in Nigeria during his Easter sermon at Saint Barnabas Cathedral in Ilorin.
The cleric emphasized Christ’s resurrection as Christianity’s foundation while urging leaders to intensify economic relief measures. “The government is trying, but we are still hungry. They should lead with God’s fear and ease citizens’ suffering,” Adewole stated.
Separately, the Northern Senators Forum called for national unity in an Easter message. Chairman Senator Abdulaziz Yar’Adua urged Nigerians to embrace Christian values of love and tolerance to combat societal ills like corruption and banditry.
The bishop’s remarks come amid ongoing economic challenges, with religious leaders increasingly vocal about citizens’ hardships despite government intervention claims.
