Nigeria’s Super Eagles have moved up one spot to 43rd in the latest FIFA world rankings, as announced by the world football governing body on Thursday.

The ranking marks an improvement from their previous 44th position at the end of 2024. The slight boost may be attributed to Nigeria’s recent form, including a victory over Rwanda in their World Cup qualifying campaign for the 2026 tournament set to take place in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

Globally, Argentina retains its top position, followed by Spain and France in second and third place, respectively. England ranks fourth, while Brazil completes the top five.

In Africa, Morocco has overtaken Senegal as the highest-ranked team on the continent, moving to 12th in the world. Senegal now sits 19th globally, while Egypt (32nd), Algeria (36th), and African champions Côte d’Ivoire (41st) round out the top five in Africa. Nigeria, currently 43rd, is ranked sixth on the continent, followed by Tunisia in 49th place.

The next FIFA rankings update is scheduled for July 10, 2025.
