The Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, has called on residents of the state to maintain peace, respect the law, and work together for stability and harmony.
Speaking during a special Iftar (breaking of fast) at his palace, Emir Sanusi condemned those opposing his reinstatement, declaring that “fire would consume those inciting unrest in the city.”
He emphasized that those challenging his authority are defying the will of God and would ultimately face dire consequences.
“We urge everyone to maintain peace. This issue is beyond us; it is about God’s will, and He needs no one’s assistance. Let us be patient and continue praying, for God will always support those on the right path,” the Emir stated.
“May fire consume anyone seeking to cause trouble in Kano. May Allah protect us and our community from all evil. Let us remain peaceful and steadfast in prayer. Whoever challenges God’s judgment will never succeed.”
His remarks come amid ongoing disputes over the Kano Emirship, a crisis that has lasted for months.
Meanwhile, Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has directed all four emirate councils in the state to begin preparations for the upcoming Sallah Durbar, a traditional celebration held during Eid festivities.
The governor’s directive coincides with a move by Aminu Ado Bayero, the deposed Emir of Kano, who has notified security agencies of his plans to hold a durbar and commemorate his fifth year as the city’s monarch.
The emirship tussle continues to heighten political tension in Kano, with rival factions claiming legitimacy over the throne.
