The Federal High Court in Lagos, Nigeria has ordered renowned businessman Oba Otudeko to appear before it and take his plea in the ongoing ₦30 billion fraud case filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke, presiding over the case, ruled on Monday that Otudeko must be arraigned before any application challenging the court’s jurisdiction could be considered.

The EFCC had earlier filed a 13-count charge against Otudeko and three other individuals over an alleged fraudulent loan transaction. However, the judge insisted that the defendant must first enter a plea before any jurisdictional objections could be addressed.

Following the ruling, the court adjourned the case to May 8, 2025, for further proceedings.
