The Nigerian government has officially designated Simon Ekpa and 16 other individuals and organizations as terrorism financiers, ordering the immediate freezing of their assets.

The Nigeria Sanctions Committee, in a meeting held on March 6, recommended the designations, which were subsequently approved by the President upon the recommendation of the Attorney General of the Federation.

Among those blacklisted are Simon Ekpa, Godstime Promise Iyare, Francis Mmaduabuchi, John Onwumere, Chikwuka Eze, Edwin Chukwuedo, Chinwendu Owoh, Ginika Orji, Awo Uchechukwu, and Mercy Ebere Ifeoma Ali. Others include Ohagwu Juliana, Eze Okpoto, Nwaobi Chimezie, Ogomu Kewe, Igwe Ka Ala Enterprises, Seficuvi Global Company, and Lakurawa Group.

A document obtained from the committee states that financial institutions must immediately freeze the bank accounts and financial assets of those named. Additionally, all relevant institutions must submit compliance reports and suspicious transaction reports to the Nigeria Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU).

The government has directed that these measures extend not only to the individuals but also to all entities linked to them, including signatories and directors of associated organizations.
