A former Lagos State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has officially resigned from the party.
Jandor announced his decision at a press briefing held on Monday at Liberty Place in Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria. He attributed his exit to widespread indiscipline and anti-party activities within the PDP, which, according to him, had become the norm.
Flanked by a large group of supporters, Jandor specifically pointed to actions taken by some PDP leaders, including former Deputy National Chairman Chief Olabode George, whom he accused of working against the party’s success in the 2023 general elections.
“We will consult widely with everybody and then take the decision to collapse our structure into another platform. What is majority on the ground now is that we have left the Peoples Democratic Party,” Jandor stated.
His departure marks a significant shift in Lagos PDP politics, as he had been a key figure in the party’s efforts to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
