Bose Ogulu, the mother and manager of Grammy-winning Nigerian artist Burna Boy, has been nominated for the prestigious Manager of the Year award at the 2025 Music Week Awards.
The award organizers announced her nomination on Wednesday, placing her alongside top industry professionals such as Alistair Goldsmith, Neil Hughes, and Wes Banton. The ceremony is set to take place on May 8 at JW Marriott Grosvenor House in London, UK.
The Manager of the Year category honors exceptional talent in music management, recognizing individuals who have significantly contributed to the global music industry. The Music Week Awards celebrate excellence across various sectors, including record labels, A&R, live events, and management, with winners determined through peer voting and an independent panel of judges.
This nomination is not Ogulu’s first international recognition. In 2022, she won Manager of the Year at the Artist & Manager Awards in London, further solidifying her reputation as a force in the music industry.
A seasoned linguist and cultural advocate, Ogulu holds a Bachelor’s degree in Foreign Languages and a Master’s in Translation from the University of Port Harcourt. She comes from a family deeply rooted in the arts—her father, Benson Idonije, was a celebrated music critic and the first manager of Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti.
Before transitioning into music management, Ogulu worked as a translator for the Federation of West African Chambers of Commerce and is fluent in English, French, German, Italian, and Yoruba. She also co-founded Spaceship Collective, a platform dedicated to supporting African artists and expanding Afrobeats’ influence on the global stage.
Under her leadership, Burna Boy has achieved international success, securing major record deals and global recognition. Her strategic management has played a crucial role in shaping his career and solidifying his status as one of Africa’s biggest music exports.
The 2025 Music Week Awards will honor key figures in the music industry, with Ogulu’s nomination highlighting her exceptional contributions
