Popular Nigerian musician, Innocent ‘2Baba’ Idibia, caused a stir at the Edo State House of Assembly on Monday when he made an unexpected appearance.
The legendary ‘African Queen’ singer’s presence led to an uproar among attendees, prompting him to lower his face as security personnel worked to restore order. At the time of his arrival, Edo lawmakers had yet to begin their sitting, adding to the confusion.
Speculation surrounding his visit intensified due to rumors of a romantic link between 2Baba and a sitting Edo State House of Assembly member, Natasha Osawaru. However, Osawaru has strongly denied the claims through her spokesperson, Eseosa Okundia, describing the reports as “false and baseless”.
This development comes just weeks after 2Baba announced his separation from his longtime partner, Annie Idibia (née Macaulay). The 49-year-old singer recently filed for divorce, stating:
“Annie and I have been separated for a while now and have officially filed for divorce. I will release a statement soon—not because I owe anyone an explanation but because I love my people and want them to know the truth.”
Their marriage had long been the subject of public scrutiny, especially after Annie accused 2Baba of infidelity. Amid the split, he was also spotted leaving a nightclub with an unidentified woman, fueling further speculation about his personal life.
