
Twenty-five students of Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo State, Nigeria were arraigned before a Chief Magistrate Court on Wednesday in connection with the murder of Alex Timileyin, a fellow student beaten to death by his colleagues for allegedly stealing a mobile phone. The students, aged between 18 and 34, have been remanded in prison until July 8 pending trial.
The incident, reported by Podium News occurred inside a hostel known as Shepherd Inn on the university premises. Timileyin was beaten from 6 pm on Friday to about 10 am on Saturday.

An activist known as ‘Lord Of Warri,’ a relative of the deceased from the Warri Kingdom in Delta State, disclosed the development on X.com. He had previously petitioned Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde to ensure justice for Timileyin.

In an update on X on Wednesday, ‘Lord Of Warri’ wrote, “Today June 5, 25 students were arraigned in court in connection with the tragic murder of Prince Alex Timileyin, a son of the Warri Kingdom and a student at Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo. The court has remanded them in prison until July 8, pending trial.”

He further expressed appreciation for the efforts of the Oyo State Government and the Oyo State Police Command in pursuing justice. “We await the trial and expect that justice will be served in its entirety,” he added.
This development follows ongoing calls for justice from Timileyin’s family and the wider community, ensuring that those responsible are held accountable for their actions.
