The decomposing body of Justice Azuka, a member of the Anambra State House of Assembly representing Onitsha North Constituency 1, has been discovered on the 2nd Niger Bridge.

Azuka was abducted on December 24, 2024, along Ugwunabankpa Road in Inland Town, Onitsha. After weeks of investigation, security operatives from Abuja arrested the suspects late Wednesday. The apprehended individuals later led authorities to the location where they had dumped the lawmaker’s remains.

Confirming the incident, Anambra State Police Command spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga stated that details surrounding the case remain sketchy. However, he assured that police operatives had been deployed to the scene and further updates would be provided in due time.

This tragic incident marks the second time in recent years that a sitting Anambra lawmaker has been kidnapped and murdered. In 2022, Okey Okoye, popularly known as “Okey Di Ok” from Aguata, was abducted and later beheaded, with his body found around the Nnobi axis of the state.

Authorities have vowed to bring those responsible for Azuka’s killing to justice as investigations continue.
