The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) in Nigeria, has condemned notorious terrorist leader Bello Turji as a coward following an operation that killed his son and several of his fighters.
The military conducted a series of successful clearance operations on January 17, 2025, along key areas such as Shinkafi, Kagara, Fakai, Moriki, Maiwa, and Chindo, which led to significant terrorist casualties and the destruction of their logistic base.
Major General Edward Buba, the outgoing Director of Media Operations, confirmed that Turji’s son was killed at Fakai high ground, a known hideout for the terrorists. Buba accused Turji of abandoning his son and fighters during the operation, calling his actions a “cowardly act.”
The military also rescued several kidnapped victims during the clearance, further weakening Turji’s hold on the region. Buba noted that despite the terrorist kingpin’s escape, the operation demonstrated the military’s ongoing commitment to neutralizing terrorists and ensuring national security.
Additionally, in another operation targeting a camp linked to terrorist kingpin Idi Mallam in the Zango-Kagara Forest, troops neutralized three terrorists, arrested three collaborators, and recovered various weapons and livestock. The military continues to ramp up efforts against terror in the region.
