Nigerian actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has debunked reports claiming she fled the United States due to the devastating wildfires currently ravaging Los Angeles.

In a statement shared on her Instagram account on Tuesday, the actress reassured her fans that she and her family are safe and clarified the circumstances of her travel.

“I want to take a moment to address the incredible outpouring of concern and support I’ve received regarding the fires in Los Angeles,” she wrote. “First and foremost, I want to thank everyone who has reached out with kind words, prayers, and love. Your thoughtfulness means the world to me.”

Omotola, who acknowledged the severity of the fires, dismissed claims that they prompted her return to Nigeria. “To clarify and set the record straight: My family and I are safe. I have been in Nigeria since December 2024 and am still here presently. While I deeply cherish my connection to Los Angeles, these fires were not the reason for my travel. I kindly urge media outlets and individuals to correct this misinformation,” she added.

The actress also extended her prayers to those affected by the crisis, including first responders and families who have lost their homes.

“My heart remains in Los Angeles during this difficult time. It is not just a city to me—it’s a home, a community, and a place where countless dreams continue to fly,” she said.

Omotola called for unity and support for organisations assisting wildfire victims, saying, “This moment is a reminder of how interconnected we all are. It is a call to unity, resilience, and empathy. I invite you all, regardless of where you may be, to join me in praying for Los Angeles and supporting organisations on the ground making a difference.”

The wildfires in Los Angeles, which have claimed 29 lives and displaced thousands, continue to escalate, marking one of the worst disasters in California’s history. In response, President Joe Biden announced a federal aid package, providing a $770 one-time payment to victims.

A-list celebrities and residents across Los Angeles County remain affected by the fires, with many joining efforts to rebuild their communities.
