In a significant step toward realizing a multi-billion-naira vision, Alhaji Tajudeen Olabisi Abioye, Chairman/MD of Ojibabs Nigeria Limited, on January 1, 2025, laid the first block for the construction of the Jamma’at Nasrul Ilmi Central Mosque SMART Masjid in Ikirun.
The groundbreaking ceremony, held at the mosque’s project site in Oke’ba, Ikirun, marked the beginning of a monumental initiative to construct a state-of-the-art mosque that will integrate modern facilities with Islamic tradition.
The SMART Masjid, spearheaded by Arch. Prince Abdulwaha Olalekan Usman, is designed to serve as a hub for worship, education, and community development. Featuring innovative technologies and modern architecture, the mosque aims to meet the spiritual and social needs of the Muslim Ummah in the region and beyond.
Speaking at the event, Alhaji Abioye emphasized the importance of the project as a unifying force for the Muslim community.
“This mosque is not just a place of worship; it is a symbol of our commitment to faith, education, and the future of our community. By laying this block today, we are setting the foundation for a legacy that will inspire generations to come,” he said.
The project’s design includes prayer halls, classrooms, conference rooms, and advanced facilities to accommodate a growing congregation and support community activities.
The ceremony was attended by notable personalities, including religious leaders, traditional rulers, and dignitaries from Nigeria and the diaspora. Royal fathers present included: HRH Oba Adekunle Abdul-Waheed Babatunde, Elende of Eko-Ende Land, HRH Oba Jimoh Isiaka Adesina Ajarabiolu, Alase of Ilase-Ijesa, and HRH Oba Qamarudeen Adeyemi Adeyanju Bello, Olororuwo of Ororuwo Land
The event also featured prayers, Quranic recitations, and speeches from key stakeholders, all underscoring the significance of the mosque as a center for both spiritual and societal growth.
The laying of the first block was part of a larger fundraising initiative to complete the ambitious project. Generous contributions poured in from attendees, including prominent politicians, business leaders, and diaspora supporters. The fundraising session highlighted the collective commitment of the Muslim community to advancing Islamic causes and fostering development.
