Two factory workers in Lagos, Nigeria, narrowly escaped tragedy on Saturday morning after being trapped in a diesel reservoir in the Ikosi area of the state.
According to a statement by Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the incident occurred around 10 a.m. Preliminary investigations revealed that one of the workers accidentally fell into the reservoir while performing repairs, and the second worker became trapped while attempting to rescue his colleague.
LASEMA, in collaboration with the Lagos State Fire Service, successfully rescued both individuals. The victims, identified as adult males, sustained severe conditions and were administered first aid, including CPR, before being transported to a hospital by the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS).
“Emergency responders have secured the scene and are assessing it to determine further necessary actions to prevent similar occurrences in the future,” Oke-Osanyintolu said.
