Yoruba Nation activist Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has dismissed rumors of his death, describing the reports as baseless and a deliberate attempt to derail the self-determination movement.
In a statement released on Friday by his media aide, Olayomi Koiki, Igboho reassured his supporters of his well-being, urging them to remain focused on the ongoing Yoruba Nation struggle.
“We want to assure the general public and supporters of the Yoruba Nation movement that Dr. Chief Sunday Adeyemo Igboho is alive, well, and in high spirits. There is no truth to the rumors being spread by certain individuals and groups trying to mislead the public. This is a deliberate attempt to tarnish his image and derail the ongoing self-determination struggle,” the statement read.
The false reports reportedly originated from a Facebook page, Seyi Tinubu Youth Battalion. Igboho emphasized that the Yoruba Nation movement remains unshaken despite attempts to misinform the public.
Highlighting the reasons for the struggle, Igboho stated that corruption and insecurity in Nigeria have diminished national pride. He added that globally exposed Yoruba youth are eager to transform their homeland into a modern, prosperous society.
“Our mission for the self-determination of the Yoruba people remains strong and unshaken. We call on our supporters to remain vigilant and focused on our collective goal,” he concluded.
Sunday Igboho has been a prominent figure advocating for Yoruba self-determination, often highlighting the need for autonomy to address the socio-economic challenges faced by the region.
