Kachalla Dogo Isah, a notorious bandit leader in Kaduna State, was killed during a violent confrontation with a group of repentant bandits in Kachia Forest on January 7, 2025.

The clash occurred when Isah’s group attempted to raid a cattle camp led by Kachalla Musa, a former bandit leader who recently embraced a government-backed peace initiative. The altercation escalated into a fierce gun battle, resulting in the deaths of Isah and two of his associates.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama confirmed the incident, stating, “The violence erupted as Isah’s group tried to raid the cattle camp, leading to a heavy exchange of gunfire.”

Dogo Isah had long been a major threat to the region’s security, orchestrating cattle rustling, attacks on security forces, and other criminal activities in the Kachia and Kajuru areas. His refusal to participate in peace efforts had further destabilized the region.

His death marks a significant blow to banditry in Kaduna State but underscores the dangers faced by those transitioning out of criminal activities. In a similar clash in September 2024, Isah’s cousin, Tukur Sharme, was also killed by repentant bandits.
