Japanese tennis star Naomi Osaka has revealed her breakup with American rapper Cordae, just days before the start of the Australian Open.

Osaka, 27, made the announcement on Instagram late Monday, ending their relationship of nearly five years. The couple, who began dating in 2019, share a young daughter, Shai.

“Hi everyone, just wanted to say that Cordae and I are no longer in a relationship,” wrote the four-time Grand Slam champion. “No bad blood at all, he’s a great person and an awesome dad.”

Osaka expressed gratitude for their time together, adding, “Honestly really glad our paths crossed because my daughter is my biggest blessing and I was able to grow a lot from our experiences together,” signing off the post with a red heart emoji.

The announcement comes shortly after Osaka reached her first WTA final since 2022 at the Auckland Classic but was forced to withdraw with an abdominal injury despite winning the opening set 6-4.

Her injury is not believed to be serious, and Osaka is expected to compete in the Australian Open, which begins on Sunday. Fans will be watching closely as the tennis star looks to reclaim her dominance on the court amidst personal changes off it.
