The Kano State government has revoked the operating license of popular actress Samha M. Inuwa, citing indecent dressing and the posting of vulgar content on social media.

In a statement released on Saturday by the Kano State Censorship Board’s Information Officer, Abdullahi Sani Sulaiman, the government announced additional sanctions, including a 12-month ban on the actress from appearing in any films.

The statement explained that the decision was taken after Samha failed to comply with repeated warnings regarding her “crude dressing and vulgar displays,” which were deemed to violate the Board’s regulations.

Sulaiman noted that the action followed numerous complaints from Kano residents who expressed concerns about the actress’s conduct, claiming it was inconsistent with the cultural and moral values of the state.

In addition to revoking her license, the government has censored any films featuring Samha, effectively barring their distribution or screening within the state.

This move reflects Kano State’s strict regulatory framework for the film and entertainment industry, which aims to uphold cultural and moral standards in line with the state’s Sharia-based legal system.

The revocation has sparked mixed reactions among citizens. While some applauded the government’s decision as necessary to preserve cultural values, others criticized it as an infringement on artistic freedom and individual expression.

The actress has yet to publicly respond to the sanctions.
