
The Secretary to the Ondo State Government (SSG) in Nigeria, Mr. Tayo Oluwatuyi, popularly known as Tukana, has passed away. Oluwatuyi died on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at a hospital where he had been receiving treatment following a road accident.
Oluwatuyi, 62, was involved in a ghastly car accident on December 19, 2024, along the Ife-Ibadan Road, which left him hospitalized.
The Ondo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Wale Akinlosotu, confirmed Oluwatuyi’s death in a statement on Saturday, describing him as a committed and distinguished public servant.
“It is with profound sadness that the Government of Ondo State announces the passing of Hon. Temitayo Oluwatuyi, Secretary to the State Government,” the statement read. “He served with distinction and played a crucial role in the administrative coordination, policy advisory, and implementation of the state government’s agenda.”
Oluwatuyi, who had served as SSG since January 2024, was praised for his unwavering commitment to the development of Ondo State. He previously held roles as Chairman of Akure South Local Government and Commissioner, in addition to being a two-time SSG.
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa expressed condolences to the Oluwatuyi family, friends, and associates, while recognizing the late SSG’s pivotal role in the governance of Ondo State.
The government promised to announce further details regarding Oluwatuyi’s memorial arrangements in the coming days.
Oluwatuyi’s death is a significant loss to Ondo State, where his contributions to governance and policy-making have left a lasting impact.
