
Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State, Nigeria has declared a state of emergency in the education sector to ensure quality education and accelerate efforts to improve educational services across the state. This announcement was made in a statement by his spokesperson, Sanusi Tofa, on Sunday.
Tofa stated, “The governor, in fulfilling a crucial campaign promise outlined in his document titled ‘My Commitment for Kano,’ presented to the public in 2022 ahead of the 2023 elections, is scheduled to declare a state of emergency on Tuesday. The declaration of a state of emergency in education is aimed at expediting actions to provide services to guarantee access to quality education for all in Kano.”
The upcoming event will convene all relevant stakeholders in the education sector, including development partners, state and federal agencies, as well as dignitaries such as the Minister of Education, governors from other states, members of the academic community, and representatives from the media.
