The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) permission to freeze 24 bank accounts over allegations of terrorism financing. Justice Emeka Nwite issued the 90-day freeze order following an ex-parte motion presented by EFCC counsel Martha Babatunde.

The accounts, reportedly linked to Lawrence Lucky Eromosele, are under investigation for money laundering and ties to kidnapping operations. According to the motion, filed under FHC/ABJ/CS/1897/V/2024, the EFCC suspects that the accounts were used to channel illicit funds and manipulate the naira’s value through cryptocurrency platforms.

An affidavit by Mohammed Khalil, an EFCC investigator attached to the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), revealed that a syndicate had threatened senior NSA operatives and their families, demanding ransom payments. Surveillance and intelligence operations connected the threats to Eromosele and the identified bank accounts.

The EFCC submitted chat logs and bank statements as evidence, highlighting links to proceeds of crime and terror-related activities. Khalil emphasized the need to preserve the funds during the investigation. Justice Nwite granted the motion and set March 24, 2025, for a mention of the case.
