The management of Agidigbo 88.7 FM, Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria, has refuted claims circulating on social media that the station’s Chairman, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat, the former queen of the Ooni of Ife, Naomi Silekunola, and the Principal of Islamic High School, Abdullahi Fasasi, have been released from detention.

In a statement issued on Saturday, December 28, 2024, the station clarified that Alhaji Hamzat remains in custody and has not been released, contrary to widespread online rumors.

“We understand that the rumors may have caused unnecessary anxiety and concern among our listeners and well-wishers. We assure them that we will keep them informed of any developments regarding Alhaji Hamzat’s case,” the statement read.

The management also urged the public to disregard these false claims and called on individuals propagating such rumors to desist from spreading misinformation.

The trio were remanded in Agodi Prison by a Magistrate Court following the tragic stampede at the Ibadan children’s funfair held at Islamic High School, Basorun.

Social media platforms have been awash with unverified reports suggesting that Hamzat, Silekunola, and Fasasi have been granted bail, but the station insists these reports are “fake news.”

Listeners and well-wishers have been assured of timely updates on the matter as it unfolds.
