Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, operating under Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have arrested a suspected Boko Haram operative in the Garba Chede community of Bali Local Government Area, Taraba State.

The suspect, identified as Nura Yakubu, a food vendor, was apprehended based on credible intelligence linking him to harboring Boko Haram terrorists deployed to Taraba for operations.

According to a statement by Captain Olubodunde Oni, Acting Assistant Director of 6 Brigade Army Public Relations, Yakubu and his gang were involved in the kidnapping of a businessman named Arinze and the son of Alhaji Ibrahim in the Garbatau area.

Additionally, in response to the November 27, 2024, kidnapping of a district head in Jalingo, troops intensified operations, leading to the December 18 arrest of Musa Suito, a vigilante member suspected of collaborating with kidnappers. Recovered items included a Dane gun and two cartridges.

The Nigerian Army has reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and properties in Taraba State and urged the public to provide timely and credible information to aid security efforts.
