The Nigerian Navy’s Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Igbokoda, Ondo State, has intercepted a wooden boat containing approximately 100,000 litres of stolen crude oil at the Idiogba-Mahin coastline in Ilaje Local Government Area.
The Commanding Officer, Capt. Aliyu Usman, disclosed the operation during an assessment visit on Thursday. Acting on credible intelligence, the Naval Quick Response Team was deployed to the site, seizing the boat alongside items linked to illegal oil bunkering, including discharge hoses and pumping machines.
“The perpetrators fled on sighting the Naval team,” Capt. Usman said. “A sample of the crude oil was taken for laboratory testing, and the boat and recovered items are being handled in accordance with directives.”
