
Hudson Joseph Meek, known for portraying the younger version of Baby in the 2017 film Baby Driver, passed away on December 21 in Alabama. He was 16 years old.
According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, Meek succumbed to injuries sustained from blunt force trauma after falling from a moving vehicle on December 19 at around 10:45 p.m. local time. He died two days later at UAB Hospital. The circumstances of his death are currently under investigation by Vestavia Hills police.
In a heartfelt statement posted to his Instagram, Meek’s family expressed their grief: “Our hearts are broken to share that Hudson Meek went home to be with Jesus tonight. His 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and significantly impacted everyone he met.”
The family also announced plans for a Celebration of Life on December 28 and shared details about a scholarship being created in Meek’s memory at Vestavia Hills High School, where he was a sophomore and a member of the football team.
In addition to his role in Baby Driver, Meek appeared in TV shows such as MacGyver, Found, and The School Duel. Described as a vibrant personality, his online obituary highlighted his love for making others laugh, his quick wit, and his enthusiasm for serving others.
“Hudson thrived in settings that allowed him to meet and serve new people,” the obituary noted. “He was a vibrant and dynamic person who lived life to the fullest.”
Meek’s tragic passing leaves a void in the hearts of many who cherished his talent and infectious energy.
