
Nigerian footballer Ademola Lookman has been named the 2024 CAF African Player of the Year at the prestigious Confederation of African Football Awards held in Marrakech, Morocco.
Lookman, who plays for Atalanta in Serie A, had a remarkable year, showcasing his skill, speed, and finishing abilities. His performances helped Atalanta achieve success in domestic leagues and propelled Nigeria’s qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The 2024 award victory comes after a standout season, including a record-breaking hat-trick in the UEFA Europa League final and several key goals in both the Serie A and international competitions. Lookman triumphed over stiff competition, including Achraf Hakimi (Morocco), Simon Adingra (Ivory Coast), and Serhou Guirassy (Guinea).
In his acceptance speech, Lookman expressed gratitude, dedicating the award to his teammates, family, and fans.
