In a historic moment for Africa, Nigeria’s Samuel Nwajaju has won the Mister International 2024 title, becoming the first African to claim the prestigious crown. The 23-year-old model and University of Port Harcourt undergraduate emerged victorious at the 16th edition of the pageant, held in Bangkok, Thailand, on Saturday.

Competing against a record-breaking 47 contestants from across the globe, Nwajaju also won the Best Swimwear category. He succeeded Thailand’s Kim Thitisan Goodburn, defeating notable finalists like Vietnam’s Nguyễn Mạnh Lân (first runner-up) and Indonesia’s Glenn Victor Sutanto (second runner-up).

This year’s event marked a milestone for the Singapore-based Mister International Organization, as it allowed fathers, married men, and divorced men to participate for the first time since its inception in 2006.

Nwajaju secured his spot in the competition by winning the Mister of Nigeria 2024 title in June at a grand ceremony held at the Lagos Oriental Hotel.

While the pageant’s exact prizes remain undisclosed, winners gain sponsorships, endorsements, and opportunities to collaborate with global brands. Additionally, they represent the pageant at charitable and promotional events worldwide.

Reflecting on his victory, Nwajaju’s achievement symbolizes international representation and cultural exchange, making history as he puts Africa on the global pageant map.
