The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Maitama has declined the bail application of former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, who is facing trial alongside two others for alleged N110 billion money laundering charges brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

In a ruling delivered on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, Justice Maryanne Anenih dismissed Bello’s bail request, citing procedural impropriety. She stated that the application was filed prematurely, as Bello was neither in custody nor formally arraigned before the court at the time.

“Consequently, the instant application, having been filed prematurely, is hereby refused,” Justice Anenih ruled.
