President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria has expressed his commitment to holding his cabinet accountable, stating that he will remove any minister who fails to meet performance expectations.

Speaking at a meeting with the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) leadership at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Thursday evening, Tinubu emphasized his dedication to serving Nigeria and ensuring effective governance.

“I thank the cabinet members for their efforts, but I will relieve any of them of their duties anytime I feel that they are failing Nigerians,” Tinubu asserted.

Furthermore, Tinubu called on state governments to prioritize local communities’ needs by ensuring accountability and effectiveness in local government administration. He urged governors to be sympathetic to the local populace and consider their urgent needs, highlighting the importance of local governments in delivering services to residents.

“People reside in the local communities. That is where they work, farm, and live. If the local governments are not effective in delivering services; as leaders, we must not hang on to the numbers,” Tinubu said. He suggested that governance strategies might need recalibration to address the evolving needs of local communities effectively.
