Nigerian filmmaker Kunle Afolayan has resolved his long-standing feud with his brother, Aremu Afolayan, during their mother’s wake-keep ceremony in Oyo State on Friday, November 22, 2024.
The brothers, sons of the late legendary filmmaker Ade Love, had been estranged for years. Their conflict became public in 2018 when Aremu criticized their father’s financial struggles despite his fame. In response, Kunle called Aremu “stupid,” sparking further tension.
At the wake, Kunle stated, “I am not Aremu’s brother but his father. I trained him and am 10 years older than him. Love conquers all.”
In his response, Aremu apologized, admitting his role in the feud. “My greatest joy today is that my mother made us talk. She didn’t stop praying because I was the black sheep in the family. I’m sorry for putting brother Kunle through the Instagram backlash—it’s because I love you.”
The emotional reunion highlights the unifying power of family, even amidst long-standing disagreements.
