Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has established a 12-member committee tasked with recovering vehicles belonging to the state government that are currently in private possession. The committee, led by Kelly Okungbowa, has been given a two-week deadline to ensure that all government vehicles are fully recovered and returned to the state.
At the inauguration ceremony held on Thursday in Benin City, Governor Okpebholo emphasized the importance of the committee’s work and called for the swift return of the vehicles. Okungbowa, the committee’s chairman, expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in the team and assured the governor that the members were fully committed to the task.
“We are aware that many vehicles from the past administration are currently missing, as some individuals have refused to return them,” Okungbowa stated. “The governor has given us this important responsibility to recover all government vehicles in private hands, and we intend to carry out this task diligently within the given timeframe.”
Okungbowa, who is supported by Rt. Hon. Victor Edoror, the former Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, assured the public that the committee would act lawfully in recovering the vehicles. He also appealed to residents who may be aware of government vehicles still in private hands to come forward with information.
“We have already received vital leads on some individuals who are still holding on to government vehicles,” Okungbowa said. “We urge the public to report any such cases so we can ensure the recovery of these assets for the Edo State Government.”
The committee’s mandate is to be completed within two weeks, and it can be reached via the contact number 08110165121 for any information related to the recovery process.
