Four young men have been sentenced to prison for their involvement in a violent street brawl in Leicester City Centre. The incident, which occurred on November 4, 2021, involved knives, a baseball bat, and a crutch, leaving an 18-year-old victim with stab wounds requiring hospital treatment.
The Leicester Crown Court handed down the sentences on Thursday after a six-week trial. The offenders—Destiny Ojo, Joshua Davies-Ero, Ridwanulahi Raheem, and Habib Lawal, all aged 21—were found guilty of various charges, including violent disorder, grievous bodily harm, and possession of weapons.
According to a statement by Leicestershire Police, CCTV footage revealed the group, all from London, carrying dangerous weapons. Ojo was seen wielding a baseball bat, Davies-Ero used a crutch, and both Raheem and Lawal were armed with large knives.
Detective Constable Sean Downey commented on the case:
“This incident highlights the serious danger of violent disorder. It is extremely fortunate that further injury was not caused to the people involved or to other members of the public who witnessed the incident. This could have been a very different investigation.”
The sentences were as follows:
- Destiny Ojo received seven years for violent disorder, attempted grievous bodily harm, and committing grievous bodily harm with intent.
- Habib Lawal was sentenced to five years for similar offences.
- Ridwanulahi Raheem was jailed for three years for violent disorder and possession of a bladed article.
A fifth individual, identified as Asamoah, who had previously pleaded guilty to possession of a bladed article, is scheduled to be sentenced on Friday.
Leicestershire Police emphasized their commitment to public safety, thanking those who assisted in the investigation. Detective, “We will not tolerate violent disorder in our communities and will take action against those responsible,” Downey added.
